CONTINOUS LINE

Updated: Nov 3, 2022

A Continuous Line is a form of Line art where the artist doesn't take the pencil off the canvas.

Continuous Line drawings are drawn in many different ways, many artists such as 'Vincent Van Gogh' have used this technique.

VINCENT VAN GOGH RESEARCH

Vincent Van Gogh was and post impressionism painter who was born on March 30, 1853. He was boring in the middle wealthy class and had the money and time to go to the Antwerp art academy.

Vincent Van Gogh often focused on the outside nature as is paintings were primary based off landscapes. He had an unusual style were his paintings and art works would look disorientated due to the thick curvy lines he would create.

PENCIL LINE DRAWING OF THE STARRY NIGHT

This is a pencil work of the starry night painting. Vincent Van Gogh's pencil art relates to the continuous line art because the Lines and strokes he makes are very continuous.

Every line seemed to be very continuous. The darker the place is, the closer the stokes are together, the more further apart the strokes are the brighter and lighter that area is.

Vincent Van Gogh also shows how weight is shown in his work. The thicker lines and stokes gives us the feeling that the area is heavier, however the thinner and shorter the line is, the lighter the area there is.

The continuous part is shown as even the lines and be nowhere similar to each other, in the end they are all lines. there is no different shapes in this picture as everything is made up of lines.

My Study of continuous line

For my study did a continuous line of my own portrait. For line art, I used the regular photoshop brush tool (B) and set the smoothness level higher.

For the clothes, I mainly stuck with a simple design so my continuous line study looked cleaner.
