Updated: Nov 3, 2022

Born in October 27 1923, Roy Lichtenstein was a famous Pop artist who played a major role in the pop art industry. His art was well known for painting in a comic style where the people he created always poses in over expressive ways.

Roy Lichtenstein's work mainly consisted of the colour red, green, blue and comic magazine red. His paintings were also famously known for the dot prints he did on the characters face, this effect was to reinforce the comic style he used.

His work was also famously know for the thick black outlines he used for the hair and face, It created a sense of gravity as the thick lines may of expressed the weight and shadows.

Roy Lichtenstein's work tends to be very dramatic and carries an intense atmosphere. His work also consist of very vibrant colours which creates a loud atmosphere.

I like the style of Roy Lichtenstein's work as it stands out when compared to other pop arts, I think what makes it stand out the most is the use of the dots and heavy line strokes he uses to create his paintings.

MY STUDY

This is a study I did about Roy Lichtenstein. I used one of my portrait photos where I was looking off into the distance. This is to create a more dramatic feeling since Roy Lichtenstein's work tends to be very dramatic.
